The former President made a speech recently near the site of the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. Many commentators have derided the speech as ‘historically inaccurate’, ‘unhinged’, ‘incoherent’, and many other critical terms. However, I have seen or heard no commentator interpret the speech as ‘amorously daydreaming out loud about a civil conflict, complete with tens of thousands of casualties, that would inevitable occur should he not be re-elected’. TFG did, after all, refer to the battle as ‘beautiful’, the same adjective he used to describe the Jan 6 mob. IMHO, the speech deserves criticism for being pro-civil-war-II in addition to the other flaws. Did anyone else interpret the language this way?
